  • Wheel characteristics

    In the electronics industry, it is often necessary to grooving or cutting some hard and brittle non-metallic materials. The tools commonly used for grooving or cutting are thin diamond grinding wheels. In the process of using aluminum abrasive cutting disc for a long time, in order to distinguish different grinding wheel pieces, it is customary to divide the thin diamond grinding wheel into "soft knife" and "hard knife". The following is a brief description of the differences and characteristics of the two types of knives.

    2, the difference between the material of the grinding wheel
    The customized metal cutting disc material is mainly composed of diamond abrasive and bonding agent. The "soft knife" abrasive binder is generally a metal nickel alloy or a metal copper alloy and a resin binder, and the "hard knife" abrasive binder is generally only a metal nickel alloy;
    3, the difference in molding process when manufacturing the grinding wheel
    In the manufacture of "soft knives", the molding methods generally include electroforming, powder pressing or powder pressing and heating curing, and "hard knives" generally adopt electroforming methods; 4. Differences in use methods
    The “soft knife” must be positioned and fixed on a special cutter head (or flange) (Fig. 3), and then mounted on a special cutter. The “hard knife” does not require a cutter head when in use. Can be mounted directly to a dedicated cutter.
